Raptor EspañaRescue & Education Programme in Spain.Birds of Prey Centre.Raptor n: A bird of prey.n: Any of numerous carnivorous birds that hunt and kill other animals.The most common raptors are: Eagles, Buzzards, Owls, Vultures, Hawks, Falcons, Kestrels plus many other species.Many of these birds of prey are becoming endangered in Spain and the rest of Europe due to the major changes within their environment which include: New roads through their natural habitat. Forestation problems. Modernisation of farming methods. Rural development. Hunting by man and Climate Changes.The most common cause of death and injury to these beautiful birds in Spain is due to their natural carrion instinct to feed off other creatures which have been injured or killed on the road.The first stage of our programme is to try and reduce the number of “Road Kills” these birds experience, we aim to achieve this by devoting some of our time to removing dead or injured creatures from our roads thus ensuring the death rate by cars, of these birds is dramatically reduced. Our long-term goal, is to open a Raptor Education Centre and Sanctuary here in Spain where injured birds can be brought, treated and cared for and when healthy, re-introduced back into their natural habitat.The birds that cannot be set free will be cared for within the sanctuary.We then propose to set up a breeding programme for endangered species which hopefully will ensure that these birds do not become extinct.Our centre will eventually be opened to the public where they will have the opportunity to learn more about these magnificent birds, how they live, feed, fly and how important they are for the environment.For us to achieve our aims we need your help, any donation no matter how small will put us a step nearer to reaching our objectives and ensuring that these wonderful birds will still be around to soar in our skies.For emergency “Road Kill” or “Injuries” to animals or birds Please Telephone: 667 046 624.
