Review
Restaurante Los Limoneros is a recently re-opened restaurant in Cortijo Grande.It has had a change of ownership and has only been open for a short time. It has a nice bar area with comfortable chairs to sit and have a drink whilst studying the menu. My partner and I along with our 2 friends had been to Los Limoneros a few times before when the previous owners were there, and decided to give it a try again. We were not disappointed.
We arrived on an evening when the wind was blowing a gale and it wasn’t particularly warm, so were very glad to get inside. The layout is pretty much the same as before except that there are now a few tables in the bar area as well as the main dinning room. When we arrived, we sat in the bar area on nice comfortable sofas, were offered a drink immediately and handed the menu.
The menu offers a very good selection and also has a childrens menu. Starter prices are between €4.50 and €9. Everything sounded very nice, and amongst others there was soup of the day, king prawns in ginger, prawns and mushrooms in garlic, and a choice of salads which included a chicken salad and a Caesar salad.
Main courses consist of a good selection of meat dishes including, fillet steak, entrecote steak, leg of lamb, chicken, pork, and a shoulder of lamb which is for 2 people. There are four fish dishes, two sole, one sea bass and one swordfish, and if none of these take your fancy then a pasta menu from €8.50 is also available.
The children’s menu for €7 offers sausage and mash, chicken nuggets and all the other things that the children like, included in the €7 is an ice cream for desert
The wine list starts at €9.50 for the house wine, and every week there is a weekly wine special where there is a choice of 3 wines at half price. These wines are exceptional value for money and includes French wines.
After a lot of mind changing, my partner and I decided to share a starter of a plate of assorted meats €9 and our friends chose the avocado and prawns and the king prawns in ginger. For our main courses our friends chose a filetini €14.50, a sole mediterranean style €12 and my partner and I once again decided to share, and chose the shoulder of lamb €22. We couldn’t resist the wine offer and chose one of the specials.
We were presented with a plate of bread with aioli whilst we waited for our starters .When they arrived we all commented on how nicely presented they all were. The plate of assorted meats was enormous and plenty big enough for two to share, as was the avocado and prawns. The king prawns in ginger, although they tasted very good, they were a bit difficult to handle as they were in their shells and the ginger sauce was hot. Despite this, we all enjoyed our starters.
The main course was equally as good, beautifully presented, and with a very generous portion of fresh vegetables. The lamb was cooked to perfection and just fell of the bone and was delicious. The filetini was lovely and came with a creamy wild mushroom sauce and the sole mediterranean style was also very nice. The French wine which we ordered was fantastic.
When the time came for desert we were all very full and the four of us decided to just share, so we ordered a crepe suzette €5 and a vanilla ice cream €4.The two together was plenty for us all to share. Other items on the desert menu include profiteroles, tiramisu, chocolate mousse and a selection of ice creams.
At the end of the evening we all agreed that we had had an excellent meal for a reasonable price and would definitely be going back in the near future.
For those visiting during the day there is a good menu to suit all tastes. So why not take a dip in our lovely pool or just relax and take in the spectacular views of the Sierra Cabrera. Traditional Sunday lunched served for just ?????
