The village of Dalías lies 42 km northwest of Almería, south of the Sierra de Gador. To its north the mountains are undergoing reforestation, while on the lowland to the south is a sea of plastic greenhouses, intensive greenhouse farming being its main industry. Traces of its Moslem origins can be seen in its structure; houses with orchards, narrow streets, blind alleys and its general irregular design. At the beginning of the 19th century its population greatly increased when mining began. When it declined towards, the end of the century, grape production was introduced, thereby maintaining a stable population.
The village has plenty of small shops, cafes, bars as well as a daily market.
