You can find the Circuito de Velocidad de Almería o­n Km 485, Carretera Nacional 340 (the old road that use to join the capital city of Almería with the capital city of Murcia). The circuit is 4025 meters, the track varies from 10 to 12 meters of width and it has 8 right bends and 5 left bends. This is a very technical circuit. The track was opened in April 2000 and since then the infrastructure of the circuit has been improved with the aim of becoming o­ne of the best Spanish circuits. Since 2003 the Circuito de Almería has been managed by the company MOTORSPORT 48. This company deals exclusively with motor sport and o­ne of their activities is the management of the Fortuna Aprilia Racing Team with the rider Jorge Lorenzo who at present is the world champion o­n 250cc. They also manage the Belson Aprilia team with the rider Pol Espargaró who last year was the Spanish champion and this year, despite o­nly being 15 years old, will attend the Wold championship. The RACC Aprilia team with Ricard Cardús and Alberto Moncayo is also under their management together with other teams in lower categories. The events organised at the Circuito de Almería are very diversed:Press presentations of new models such as Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Ducati and BMW.Private training by official teams (Moto GP and Superbikes)Development by Michelin, Triumph, Continental and DunlopPhotographic sessionsRecording of promotional and corporate videosAl in all last year they had 307 days of activities/events. Another event that some of our readers might be interested in is the courses that the circuit offers. o­ne of the courses consists of driving a Formula Renault and being able to experience the same sensations as the Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso. The course lasts a whole day (09.00-18.00) and it is for a maximum of 16 people. The prize is €750 and includes the car, all equipment (race suit, helmet, shoes and gloves), lunch. Accident insurance is included but lets hope not needed. The next courses will be o­n the 14 and 15 of June.
