The small hillside village of Alcolea, lying between the Sierra Nevada and the Sierra de Gádor, at the entrance to the Alpujarras, can be reached via the A348. Its white, flat roofed houses, indicating a Moorish past, are surrounded by olive groves, its main source of income. St Sebastian’s church with its unusual steeple stands out above the village.
